What is the IFSI?

An international organisation that regroups the non-professional instructors of national ski federations and/or snow sports.

The IFSI is one of the three pillars of the INTERSKI organisation that federates teaching and management of snowsports worldwide.

The ISA (International Ski Instructor’s Association) which federates professional teachers of snowsports and the IVSS (International Association of Snowsports for Schools and Universities) are the two other organisations.

IFSI Objectives


  • Drafting of guidelines for regulations, training and evaluation of snowsport instructors who teach and manage skiing and other snowsports (snowboard, telemark, nordic skiing…) within clubs belonging to the national federations.
  • The exchange of experiences in methodology, techniques, training science, organisation, protection of nature and the environment, safety in snow sports.
  • Imparting new findings in recreational pedagogical, community building and health-educational matters.
  • Exchange of expert reports, expert papers and films.
  • Organising international working group meetings and congresses.
